Yoga Yoga Teacher Training Designated an Approved Career School by the Texas Workforce Commission
Austin, TX (PRWeb) December 6, 2006 -- Yoga Yoga Teacher Training (YYTT) is an Approved Career School by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the state government agency charged with overseeing and providing workforce development services to employers and job seekers of Texas. To date, YYTT is the only yoga teacher training program in Texas to have the TWC approved status.
"We are the first yoga teacher training program in Texas to have this designation," explains Mehtab Benton, founder of Yoga Yoga Teacher Training and director of its programs. "By approving our program, the state of Texas is recognizing the yoga teaching profession as a valid and viable career choice."
The North American Studio Alliance (NAMASTA), which is an organization for mind-body professionals, estimates that currently there are 70,000 yoga teachers in North America. In 2006, 160 students were graduated from Yoga Yoga Teacher Training. There are currently 248 students enrolled in Yoga Yoga Teacher Training's programs. Two of the main reasons students give for registering in the YYTT program are to supplement a current career or to make a major career change. YYTT's largest demographic is women over 40 who are retired or looking for a career change. The number of men and students below age 35 in the YYTT program is increasing.
A new session of Hatha Teacher Training, including classes on anatomy and physiology plus yoga fundamentals and philosophy, begins in January of 2007. An open house to provide details about the program is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9 from 1-3 p.m. at Yoga Yoga South, 1700 S. Lamar in Austin, TX. The 200-hour Teacher Training Program fee is $2595. For more details, call (512) 326-2273 or visit www.yogayoga.com/training. Hatha yoga, the physical discipline of classical yoga emphasizing yoga postures and breathing exercises for physical and psychological health and well-being, is the most widely taught and practiced yoga system in the world.
